The date of the closure of access between Hudson and North Hudson is fast approaching. Beginning on Monday, August 23^rd at approximately 6:30 am, the road will be fully closed to traffic between Division Street in Hudson and South Street in North Hudson (with the minor exception that traffic to/from the North Street neighborhood will be able to get in and out of their neighborhood for the most part during the closure period). Please, do the construction workers a favor and don’t try to drive through the closure area during the closure period! For walkers and bikers, at least one sidewalk will remain open through the closure area. The closure will be complete by Friday, September 3^rd unless delayed by inclement weather.

Here's a look at the rest of the work activities for the next couple of weeks:

This week:

• Front Street to Coulee Road: 
  • Finish pouring concrete at Lolo’s driveway
  • Finish remaining patches
• Coulee Road to Vine Street:
  • Reconstruct manholes in poor condition
• Vine Street to Lake Mallalieu:
  • Work on remaining curb & gutter, driveway aprons, and concrete pavement between Vine Street and Division Street 
  • Prepare for Division Street and North Street intersection closures
• North Hudson:
  • Driveway aprons and remaining concrete work between Monroe Street and Michaelson Street
  • Concrete paving between Michaelson Street and Sommers Street
  • Storm sewer at Sommers Street intersection
  • Work to end early this week for Pepper Fest

Next week:

• Front Street to Coulee Road:
  • Milling remaining pavement between Coulee Road and Lolo’s driveway
• Coulee Road to Vine Street:
  • Northbound traffic to be shifted to the southbound travel lane
  • Milling northbound lanes
  • Joint repair in northbound lanes
  • Unsure of asphalt paving schedule at this time
• Vine Street to Lake Mallalieu:
  • No access to North Hudson begins Monday, August 23^rd
  • Finish ancillary concrete work between Vine Street and Division Street

Work in the Division Street to Lake Mallalieu section will be occurring between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm from August 23^rd until September 3^rd to ensure that the work can be completed in a timely manner. 

You may have noticed that work seems to have stopped in the downtown area for the past few days. That is partially due to the fact that some additional work was found that needs to be completed on the City’s sanitary sewer manholes in the downtown area. The concrete structure adjusting rings have disintegrated, are allowing dirt and pavement into the sanitary sewer system, and will likely cause the manhole covers to settle over time if not addressed now. The contractor is working on getting the materials and crews needed to complete the work.

As much as your yard may need some water right now, we are hoping for not too much rain over the next few weeks so that we can get these key work tasks completed!
