Community Development
The Community Development Department is comprised of the Community Development Director, Building Inspector/Assistant Zoning Inspector, Administrative Assistant and a Receptionist and is located on the third floor of City Hall.  The department is generally responsible for:

Some specific areas reviewed include property information; construction setback requirements; building code issues; permits for building, fence, sign, conditional use and home occupation; development processing procedures; subdivision platting including certified survey maps; zoning related issues; and proposed commercial and industrial developments.

Some of the Community Development Director's responsibilities include:
  • preparing the agenda and serving as the recording secretary for the plan commission
  • organizing staff meetings for proposed projects
  • coordinating various activities of the department
  • serving as the liaison to the St. Croix Business Park Corporation
  • reviewing and preparing reports for proposed developments
  • reviewing issues for future planning for the city
  • processing rezoning requests
  • maintenance and updates to Municipal Code Chapter 253 Floodplain Zoning
  • maintenance and updates to Municipal Code Chapter 255 Zoning
  • coordination with the St. Croix County Economic Development Corporation (715-381-4383 or http://www.stcroixedc.com/
  • transportation issues relating to local streets, I-94 and Hwy 35, bike trails
  • meetings with district and state departments as needed

Demographics are available in the city's Comprehensive Plan, from West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, project reports and reports done as needed for a specific issue.

Economic development involves the assistance in the administration of the city of Hudson revolving loan fund program and working with the Revolving Loan Fund Advisory Committee.
